FAQ

Where is your office located?

My office is in the back building, called Lighthouse Square.

After you turn into 705 Boston Post Road, drive straight back past The Red Door and Aquatic pool place, past the Planet Fitness to the back building and parking lot.

705 Boston Post Road Lighthouse Square, Suite 2A Guilford, CT 06437

What are your hours?
I work Wednesdays through Saturdays. I am an early riser, so I can start sessions as early as 6 am and finish my last client at 8 pm.
How long is a session?
Sessions are 50 minutes.
Do you take my insurance?

No. I am out of network with all insurance companies.

However, if you would like to use your insurance, I can give you a superbill to submit to your insurance company to see if they will provide some reimbursement. Clients have also used their Health Savings Account (HSA) for therapy. Check with your insurance company to determine if this benefit is part of your plan.

What is your cancellation policy?

You must cancel an appointment at least 24 hours in advance to avoid the cancellation fee. The cancellation fee is 50% of the session rate, and I will bill your credit or debit card on file.

How do I contact you?

You can either call me at (203) 293-2005 or contact me via this link.

How do I set up an initial appointment?

Call (203) 293-2005 or click here to schedule your free initial consultation, and we can go from there.

What if I want to have therapy in my home?
Then I can come to you. A home visit is concierge therapy.
My mom is in a nursing home. Can you do therapy with her there? (Maybe some Dignity Therapy?)
Yup. This is walk and talk or eco therapy.
What about therapy outside?

Yup. This is walk and talk or eco therapy. Confidentiality can get a little tricky here, but I’m ok with it if you are. I will always* keep what we talk about in therapy confidential. We can have a session pretty much anywhere you want, including your child’s gymnastics meet, at the beach, walking a mall, or whatever you’d like.

*Unless, of course, you tell me that you are going to hurt yourself or someone else, in which case I have an ethical obligation to keep you and everyone else safe. To do that, I might break confidentiality if necessary.

With what age ranges do you work?
I work with all ages from birth to death – the whole kit and caboodle.
What modalities do you use in your work?
I work from a person-centered, strengths-based approach drawing on techniques from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Brief Solution-Focused Psychotherapy, Mindfulness, Meaning Making, Continuing Bonds, Dignity Therapy, Externalization work, and Motivational Interviewing. I also hold advanced certification in The Grief Recovery Method®.
Do your clients receive assignments to work on between sessions?

That is something we can discuss. Some clients like homework as it keeps the session at the forefront of their minds during the week, and there are clear action steps to take. Some modalities like CBT are homework-heavy, and we can decide together if that is the best approach for you based on your goals and where you are at the moment.

Is there anything I can do to make the therapy work faster?
No, but getting enough (not too much) sleep, sunlight, water, and exercise are always good ideas.
What if I cry?
You might, and I might. That’s ok. Tears release stress hormones, so even though no one likes an ugly cry, sometimes, as the Sesame Street song says, “It’s alright to cry, it might make you feel better.” And I have the good Kleenex ready for you.
